Today, the state Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) narrowly passed Proposal 54, which would eliminate the certificate of need for hospitals, nursing homes and hospice, among others – but only after adopting an amendment that removes nursing homes from the proposal. As a result, the proposal would now only apply to hospitals.
Proposal 54 will be sent its next committee for review, after which it may be returned to the full CRC for a final vote.
While this is a positive development for our members, LeadingAge Florida will continue to monitor the issue and keep you informed as the proposal moves through the process. Please don’t hesitate to contact our Advocacy Team if you have any questions.
